Hi and welcome to my blog!! I will be posting updates (stories, experiences, life updates, pictures etc.) during my 9 months of travel all on this website, please follow along!!
I am a little less than one week out from training camp in Gainesville, GA and am SO excited! After two weeks of training, discipleship, and local outreach we will launch. I am very grateful training camp is so close to home for me, it helps ease into the transition! I am feeling an increase of excitement and anticipation for all of what is to come. Along with the sorrow of change, leaving the people that know me best- dear friends and family, and being away from them for such a long period of time. Along with the reality of leaving behind the small comforts of daily life here, things we likely don't even think of as blessings, but when taken away we realize the comfort they bring. Many of my friends have just gone through a similar transition- heading off to college and leaving behind home, friends, and family. It has made for a lonelier time at home for me, at first I had a hard time with it. After a couple of days I realized this is some of the last alone time I will have for quite a while- so I've been taking advantage of this time by spending it with the Lord, going on walks and allowing Him to prepare my heart for the changes and growth to come in this next season and getting excited for this next year!!
I adore meeting new people and making friends, which makes arriving at training camp and finally meeting my squad so exciting. Please pray for our squad as a whole, for my teammates who are still fundraising, for us to love each other well and exercise patience when things become difficult or conflict arises.
The first country we are headed to is Greece, where we will stay in Thessaloniki and work with a ministry called Hope to Greece. Our ministry will look like coffee meetups, street evangelism, sports ministry, and prayer on the streets. Here is the link to a newsletter containing more information about why Thessaloniki, our ministry partner, and more! https://sethbarnes.com/post/gap-year-squad-2-is-headed-to-greece-the-city-paul-wrote-to?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=seth-barnes-gap-year-squad-2-is-headed-to-greece-the-city-paul-wrote-to
This next chapter ahead is very exciting and I am so very grateful to be fully fundraised, which had been a worry the Lord eased quickly thanks to the love and generosity of my community. Thank you to every family member and friend who financially supported me; your support and prayers are deeply appreciated!!
